Message from the Principal:

This is a time for exciting change beginning with a new school name, “ Excel Academy @ Francis M. Wood High School #178”, and a new school design for learning. We will welcome some ninth graders to their first high school experience. We will be wearing a polo shirt approved and designed by students. We anticipate the return of great extra-curriculur activities such as the basketball team and yoga. Mostly, we look forward to students, parents, teachers and support staff working toward the mission of preparing students for the 21st century workforce. 

The schoolwide goals for the school year 2008-09 include:

• improving school attendance;
• preparing for and engaging in meaningful learning;
• building and sustaining positive relationships;
• earning credits by accelerating and recovering school credits in a flexible school model;
• passing the high school assessments; and
• working toward school completion.

I am encouraged that you will work hard and enjoy being on the great learning team.
